Minutes of Board of Directors’ Meeting 

April 6, 2017

Unit 524 - Gilroy, Morgan Hill, Hollister Duplicate Bridge Club

Present:  President Ken Johnson, Vice-President Lyle Supp, Treasurer John Beebe, Secretary Joanne Wicker, Membership Linda King

The meeting was brought to order April 6, 2017 

1.) Treasure Report:

There was $10,239.04 in the treasury through April 6, 2017

Linda King and Joanne Wicker submitted expense reports from the March unit game. John Beebe deposited funds from the March games. The tax ID number has been taken care of regarding nonprofit status. John Beebe will get info on Unit 524 tax exempt status from the District 21 Treasurer Harvey Brody. 

2.) Unit games: 

The Hollister unit game will be quarterly for 2017. There will be one on Saturday, August 5, 2017. The fourth quarter game date has not yet been determined.

Gilroy will host the May unit game at the senior center in Gilroy. Linda King will be in charge of partnerships for the unit games. A $50 or less budget for hospitality will be implemented for the unit games. Responsibility to host will be shared by the unit board members. Motion was made by Ken Johnson to approve this John Beebe seconded and it was passed unanimously.

A quarterly unit game that includes lunch and lesson will continue. The game will be $10 including lunch, lesson and the entry fee. Motion was made by Linda King and John Beebe seconded it.  The motion was passed unanimously. 

3.) Christmas party: 

Lyle Supp and Ken Johnson will do a walk-through of the old City Hall with Carol Reed to make sure that the space will accommodate our group. 

4.) Earthquake sectional: 

There was a discussion of what events will be on Sunday for our sectional. Some suggestions were 0 to 99 er's,0 to 199 er's, all Swiss or possibly another option. Ken Johnson will make up publicity flyers. 

5.) Calendar: 

NAP and club championship game dates are still to be determined. 

New members: 

6.) Linda King reported that there were 4 new members for our unit this month. Linda sends welcome letters and schedule to all new members. 

7.) Complaints about behavior: 

A letter was received in regards to rude behavior at a table during the March unit game. It was discussed that the incident should be documented. After a total of three letters are received regarding any particular player, action will be taken. It was also decided that zero-tolerance protocol should be reviewed. 

8.) There was no new business and the meeting was adjourned.
